Marseille

Marseille is the oldest city in France and also one of the biggest. This city is on the south coast, on the Mediterranean sea.
How to reach Marseille ?
by airplane : Aeroport de Marignane, 20 min from marseille.
by train : 3 hours from Paris.
And then in Marseille ?
The students have a room in a student hostel. The rooms are pretty small but there’s an individual bathroom. There’s also a swimming pool which is very useful in summer ! We provide 3 meals everyday.

Clerkships are in the hospital La Timone, which is just next the student hostel. This hospital has a whole building dedicated to Paediatric medicine. (more than 11 floors of this specialty). There’s also an adult hospital with regular specialities such as : Cardiology, Gastro Enterology, Surgery, Internal Medicine... Students have to be at the clerkship every morning from 8:30am to 1pm. They are free on week end.

The faculty of Medicine is open every day from 7:30am till 7pm. Free Internet Access is available and so is the wifi access.
Student association AEM2 (Association des Etudiants en Medecine de Marseille) is in the faculty and open for more information.
Student hostel is near the subway, from there you can reach every interesting places of marseille. There are enough stores to find everything you’d need.
Marseille offers several things to do and to visit such as the Old port and all the calanques (little fjords)

There’s a little social program, french students will bring ifmsa student to the famous places to be such as bars, museum, and of course the famous marina as known as Old Port of Marseille.

From Marseille it is easy to reach other french cities : Cannes, Toulon, Lyon even Paris (only 3h from Marseille by high speed train « TGV »).
Marseille has a Mediterranean climate with mild, dry winters and warm, humid summers. The coldest months are January and February.
